Safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of each individual who comes into contact with KLM church. To minimise risk, we work with the Safeguarding Service of the Church of Scotland and have adopted their policies. See the Church of Scotland Safeguarding Policy Statement.

About us

We are a group of people of all ages and from all walks of life, united by a common desire to live out and share our Christian faith in the communities of South East Edinburgh.

As a small group, and currently without a building (see below), we have had to re-think what church is all about. And we are trying to get back to the basics of Christian community:

History

Kaimes Lockhart Memorial Church of Scotland was previously known as Burdiehouse Parish Church, and was based in Southhouse/Burdiehouse before moving across to Gracemount in 1961. It was given its current name in Easter 1989 (in memory of Rev Lockhart who had been minister of Burdiehouse Church from 1951-1963). For many years, it flourished and reached out to the local community.

However, in later years, the congregation declined and the building was discovered to have major problems resulting in it being closed in January 2009. Following this, the church started meeting in St Catherine's Church Hall, just over the road.

With the help of Liberton Kirk, it was agreed that we should try to re-establish the church at KLM, and as an interim measure the parishes of KLM and Liberton were linked.

In October 2009, Dave Rankin was appointed as a new associate minister of KLM, working closely with John Young, the minister at Liberton Kirk. In addition, a number of people moved from Liberton Kirk to join KLM and work with Dave in building up a new church.

In February 2011, we started meeting in Libertus' building, just opposite Gracemount Leisure Centre, where we are able to start running a group for smaller children during the service.

In March 2015, Douglas Robertson was commissioned as our new leader. And in May 2015, we moved again, this time to Gracemount Primary School where we currently meet.

Lord's Prayer

Our Father in heaven
May your name be honoured.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us food for today
And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who have sinned against us.
And lead us not into temptation
But keep us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever.
Amen
